Information: I've been playing online games since 2002, when Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast first got me interested in online gaming and eSports. For years, I've been leader of the German clan "DMF" which played the various multiplayer modes of the game, including Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. I was first confronted with modding when Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers aired in the cinemas across Europe. The epic battle scenes of Helm's Deep impressed me and my first thought was: "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to play that battle in a game?" Unfortunately, there was no such game at that time. I knew that Jedi Outcast would support modding, but no one approached that topic for real. So, I decided to recreate the setting of Helm's Deep on my own and discovered my passion for level design this way. During the following years, I supported both, the eGaming-League project and the mod "Movie Battles 2" for Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy with levels. As a member of the MB2 "Community Map Project" (CMP), I got to know Lindsey, a passionate and skilled level designer from the same community. After a while, we really hit the limits of the aged Quake3 engine, so we decided to look around for alternatives that might give Movie Battles 2 a secure future. This lead to the creation of Invision Games and its first project "Star Wars: The New Era". Although game design is a possible wish for a future occupation, my main job is working as a media designer at an advertising agency, where I mainly focus on 2D arts, web and marketing concepts. While this job combines my design hobby with an occupation, my further interests include bycicle racing and science fiction in general, not just Star Wars. I mainly prefer the Roddenberry fictions with Andromeda on top, as this kind of scifi portraits how an ideal society could work in the future. I share this interest with a broad community which I meet once a year during the FedCon, Europe's biggest scifi convention. |
